A childhood feeling of comfort, made real for children today.
When I was a child, I was told that when you say a prayer at night before bed, your message is heard and an angel carries it up to heaven, places it gently in God’s hands and returns to watch over you while you sleep.
Every night before bed, I would say my prayer. My parents and sometimes my grandparents would acknowledge a small angel figurine beside my bed, my angel. I remember looking at it before I fell asleep, knowing it was there.
I believed it. Not because I understood everything, but because somehow, that was enough. It made me feel safe. It gave me comfort.
That feeling stayed with me. Years later, as a parent putting my own children to bed, I found myself continuing that same tradition, wanting them to feel that same peace I once felt in that moment.
